Innovation Masterclass

Our innovation masterclass is designed to introduce participants to the Exponential Organizations model and create innovators of all ages.

Innovation_Masterclass

Our innovation masterclass is designed to introduce participants to the Exponential Organizations model and create innovators of all ages.  It’s proven to shift to exponential mindsets, deliver practical tools and create disruptive opportunities to empower participants in becoming professionals in transformative change in an organization.

Through a structured 8-week program, participants will receive hands-on experience in developing innovative ideas, discuss their ideas with global innovators, build connections with innovative leaders, develop important leadership skills through team coaching, and develop pitch presentation and speaking skills.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an innovation masterclass certificate and may choose to also take the OpenExO Foundations certification exam.

Course Structure

3-4 hours of class instruction/week, 4-6 hours of homework time

Week 1 - Foundations

Participants will receive an introduction to the Exponential Organizations model, the difference between linear vs. exponential, the shift from scarcity to abundance, and the value of purpose driven impactful organizations.

Week 2 - Consult Business Model Canvas

Participants will learn about the business model canvas and work with either their business or a case study business to develop the canvas giving them hands on consulting experience.

Week 3 - Consult ExO Canvas

Participants will be provided an “Awake” session around exponential growth, change, and technology as well as have the opportunity to go through an Exponential Quotient assessment with their business or a case study business.

Week 4 - Research

Teams will be formed and will develop their team communications and logistics as they do research on disruptive technologies, contextual changes, new business models, and global challenges.

Participants will apply their learnings about the difference between linear and exponential thinking and the tremendous opportunities exponential organizations bring in the form of abundance.

Week 5 - Ideation

Participants will diverge into a plethora of possibilities by dreaming up potential opportunities related to the case study business. This is the week that the participants will learn to think big and develop Massive Transformative Purposes.

Many ideas are generated across the core business, new edge opportunities for the business, and possibly even an entirely new way of running the existing business (phoenix).

Week 6 - Testing

The most important part of driving forward new ideas is testing the market. As Steve Blank says, no business case survives first contact with customers.

During this week, participants will learn how to test their most promising ideas without building. How to develop surveys and interviews, conduct interviews, and actively participate in market research and viability studies for their ideas.  They will further filter down their ideas based on these results to the most promising few ideas.

Week 7 - Pitch Development

The participants’ top 2-4 most viable ideas are prepared for a 5-minute investor pitch. At this point the teams will have gained a great understanding of the Exponential Organization Attributes and will be encouraged (and coached) to include the attributes as well as all of their previous research into the development of their idea pitch.

At the end of this week, the teams will present their pitch to their coaches to help them refine their pitch in preparation for their final pitch in week 8.

Week 8 - Launch

In the final week the participants will finalize their pitch and present them to leaders, investors, and disruptors. This is a great opportunity for participants to gain invaluable experience and practice with public speaking and selling their ideas.

Participants will learn to be succinct through the development of their “elevator” pitch…to get to the point fast through a compelling visual and verbal presentation.

Included in the learnings over the 8 weeks are components of the Lean Startup model to start the students on planning what time and investment would be needed to take their ideas to a Minimum Viable Product that could be tested in the market.

This is the greatest opportunity to develop strong connections with leaders through investing in participants initiatives developed over the duration of the course.

Requirements

The Innovation Masterclass program is available to groups as small as 5 and because it’s delivered online it doesn’t matter where you’re located as long as participants have access to an internet connection and a computer. The program is an intense program that will require 4-6 hours of effort each week for participants plus 3-4 hours of class time during the week.

Contact

New classes begin every month so please contact us for the next intake or for information on how to use the Canada Jobs Grant to cover some of the cost of the course for your organization.
